Living The Dream

I love taking photographs.

There is just something so magical about being amongst nature with a camera.

I feel confident. I feel empowered. But mostly, I feel so happy.

A week ago I had the privilege of being in nature with my camera.

Paradise.

It’s quite simple in gaining this rainbow effect in the image. It happens most when I use my phone to take pictures. It’s all about playing with the light and allowing the sunshine to bounce and curve off the lens.

For the above effect, I turned my phone upside down so that the lens was on the ground. This way, it skims the bark and adds a density to the image.

I love playing around with photography. You’re never too advanced to keep experimenting.

Central Sensation

When taking photos, I LOVE it when objects are in the centre.

For me, it draws the eye to the centre piece of the image.

It’s so simple, yet highly effective.

When you look at a photo, your subconscious starts your eye to the top left of the image – as this is how you read.

So when taking photographs, I bear this in mind.

A Screw Loose!

Anything can be a photograph.

When I went to college, and began my training, my tutor told me that you can make anything and everything into a photo. And she wasn’t wrong.

I often find myself notice everything on my travels – I love being able to turn objects, like a light switch and pile of books, into “fill the frame” type images.

But these screws really caught my eye.

Fill the frame is one of my favourite photographic techniques I have learned and mastered over the years of being a photographer.

It’s such a simple technique – just move your camera closer to the object, focus and snap!

Graffiti Gallery

I park my car in a football stadium car park for when I visit town.

It may be a mile round hike to and from the car, but it’s reasonably priced, there’s always a space and hey, it burns a few calories!

To and from my destination, I walk down/up a rather salubrious back alley.

All full of graffiti, it’s hard not to stop and admire the artistry.

Wheelie Graffiti

I can’t always make out the words, but the talent always catches my eye.
