Christmas in April

I know it isn’t quite Christmas just yet, but I HAVE to show you these pictures!

A fibre optic Christmas tree

A Nikon DSLR on a 10 second shutter speed

As the shot is taking place, twist the lens to zoom in and out

And Voila!

Such a simple idea, but it leaves such a fantastic effect and pattern! The opportunities are endless!

I took these a couple of years ago in my living room. It was an idea that came to mind whilst I was playing around with my camera trying to achieve the bokeh effect, which I failed in. But I gained these.

Why not try this effect yourself?

Here’s what you will need:

Nikon D5100 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens Kit (16.2MP) 3 inch LCD (Renewed)

Globe String Lights Mains Powered 13M/43ft 100 LED Outdoor Fairy Lights Multi-Color 8 Modes Waterproof with Remote Control for Party Living Room Bedroom Patio Garden (13m 100led Multi-colored Plug in)

Tulips

I love tulips! They are so pretty, bright and colourful!

It was very simple to create this image.

I got plain pieces of paper and lay on the floor in the kitchen next to the open patio doors.

Placed the tulips on top in an orderly fashion then I snapped away!

Simple, yet super effective!

Horses

I find horses so great to photograph. Their sleek hair, facial features and majestic and elegant moves and poise make pictures so great.

Beauty

I don’t really take a lot of pictures of animals if I’m honest. Not really out of choice, just lack of opportunity. I am very lucky to live on the doorstep to a very vast and peaceful country park that homes deer, rabbits, horses and a falconry!

Visiting the country park is like reading the same book again, each time you revisit it, there is something different to discover and notice.

Wonder what I will notice the next time!

Natures Wonder

Being out in nature adds so many wonderful positives to our lives – fresh air, exercise, clearing of the mind and seeing the beauty of our world.

When I’m out in nature, I love to take snail eye view pictures. This is where I have the lens of my camera or my phone as close to the ground as possible (and as safely). It is a technique I often use to add dimension and height to my images, plus it gives a different and exciting viewpoint.

Another way to play around with this technique is to use it for reflections.

Have a go yourself!
