Over the holidays I have myself a challenge on turning ugly things into pretty pictures.

I hadn’t had my camera for long before I took a trip to Durham with my friend. Just starting to learn and apply what I had been taught in college, I was ready to try and enjoy taking some photos of the beautiful North East city of Durham.

A short train ride and we were there, ready to snap away on the chilly day!

I mean, how could you not?

Shot mostly on Auto and edited on the Lightroom app, I was extremely pleased with the outcome!

Durham is a beautiful place – a place I have been visiting annually over the last 10 years. However due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to visit for the last year or two.

But I intend to return very shortly!

In May 2019, I got on a boat to the Farne Islands.

To say it was choppy, is possibly an understatement.

After being on the boat for a good 45 minutes, I was glad to reach some steady land – but not before I came across these beauties!

Hundreds of seals, just chilling and watching the world (and the boats) go by!

I’ve always been a fan of seals since a small age. I just love their relaxed demeanour, sleek and smooth glossy skin and general poise. Never have I ever seen so many gathered in a group of a rock face! Definitely worth the sea sickness!
