Leeds, UK

Last year, I went to Leeds with my friend.

We like to meet up once a year, where both of us have to travel and Leeds is always the winning destination for us.

Mainly because we have a great time having afternoon teas and a good shopping trip, but also for the photographic memories of the beautiful city.

Down Time

Working hard is great, getting yourself closer to your dreams is wonderful – but have you ever taken a break?

It’s important to be constantly focused and in line with your goals, but you are allowed to have a day off.

A day where you don’t need to think about anything, a day where you can relax and go at your own pace.

This isn’t about quitting, it’s about resting.

And that’s the difference.

The Manic Detour

I’d say I’m a confident driver.

I’m happy to drive to any corner of the earth, as long as someone is in the car with me.

However, I was rather manic today.

🌊☀️🌊☀️🌊☀️🌊☀️🌊☀️🌊☀️🌊☀️🌊☀️🌊

I love the beach, and even more so the drive to my favourite hotspot. But recently, due to lockdown, I heard whispers and rumours of some road changes.

My friend told me they were fine now, so I arrange to meet up with a friend next to where I usually park my car.

However – the roads WEREN’T fine!

🚗🚨🚗🚨🚗🚨🚗🚨🚗🚨🚗🚨🚗🚨🚗🚨🚗

I was abruptly directed down this street, which led me on a wild goose chase as I raced against time and stress in the hope that I wasn’t going to be late meeting my friend.

Being late is not in my dictionary. It’s something that I never do. However, I was getting more flustered and in despair at the thought of this happening now.

😱🙌😱🙌😱🙌😱🙌😱🙌😱🙌😱🙌😱🙌😱

I eventually found the street I usually park on. Fortunately, also, there was a nice space waiting for me and I quickly parked and ran across the road to meet my friend.

I met her at 12:04.

We were meeting at 12:00.

Wasn’t too bad.

The Quest to the Quayside

I am so lucky to have this stunning place to visit as often as I like.

The Quay to my Heart

I took this image standing on the High Level Bridge. Walking along this bridge, with buses zooming by next to me and trains rattling over head of me, no distraction could take my eyes away from this scene.

The Wonky Panoramic

I have to be very careful when on this bridge. For I fear constantly that I will drop my phone into the river tyne, only for it to drown and for me to cry out in despair.

*no phones were harmed in the production of this blog *

City Skies

If you ever visit Newcastle, my main destination to visit is the Quayside. Bars and restaurants, music venues and cafes, benches to rest, Bridges to see and walk over…

Definitely a must see!

Graffiti Gallery

I park my car in a football stadium car park for when I visit town.

It may be a mile round hike to and from the car, but it’s reasonably priced, there’s always a space and hey, it burns a few calories!

To and from my destination, I walk down/up a rather salubrious back alley.

All full of graffiti, it’s hard not to stop and admire the artistry.

I can’t always make out the words, but the talent always catches my eye.

Rubik’s Challenge

During lockdown I learned how to do the Rubik’s cube. I thought it’d take me ages to accomplish, but I was fooled.

My friend gave me a tutorial via FaceTime and I was able to master the bottom layer. But I just couldn’t manage the rest.

Hello, youtube!

I watched a video that lasted ten minutes long.

I then practiced the steps for a good 5 hours before I could do the whole cube in one go.

I kept redoing the cube over and over and over again.

Now I can do it in averagely 2 minutes.

The message of this blog post is to not give up. Keep going. You will succeed, just need to learn and fail a few times before you get there!
